CCIC is a students competition in the European region that gives a platform to students to develop ideas to make a great positive use of Digital Life. The competition allows students to present their ideas to not only Huawei but also to Huawei partners, other big corporations which would open the future door for them.

  • Eligible are all students aged 18-25 studying at any University in Europe, who hold a European passport, valid student visa or residence permit.
  • Excluded from the competition are all Huawei employees (including trainees and intern) and their family members as well as individuals in the process of applying for a job at Huawei.

Trip to Berlin and Huawei Device
10 Finalist are invited to pitch their ideas live to Huawei and top ICT companies at the prestigious Huawei Eco-Connect Event in Berlin.
Trip to China and Huawei Device
3 winners selected by the Judges and one winner by popular vote at Huawei Eco-Connect Event will get 2-weeks trip to discover Chinese culture and historical landmarks as well as Huawei high-tech premises.
  • TERMS & CONDITIONS
  • Participants in the Competition are bound by the following terms and conditions, so please read carefully before going on.
  • 1.Introduction
  • a. The Huawei Connected Campus Ideas Competition (CCIC) is a European based competition organized by Huawei Technologies Düsseldorf GmbH (AG Düsseldorf, HRB 56063, and registered office at Hansaallee 205, 40549 Düsseldorf, Germany), the entity of European Headquarter of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (the "Promoter") asking Participants to develop ideas in Empowering Digital Life. Students are encourage to cultivate advanced thinking and to be innovative on how information technology can have a great positive impacts in our future life (the "Competition").
  • b. The Competition is accessed via http://www.huaweiconnecteurope.com/ccic/ccic.jsp (the "Competition Website").
  • c. The "Competition Period" which is also the "Materials Submission Period" is from 20 March 2017 to 15 September 2017 in which the "Registration Period" is from 20 March 2017 to 31 July 2017.
  • d. By registering, you confirm that you have read and unconditionally agree to all of these Terms and Conditions and that you accept any and all of the Promoter’s decisions regarding the Competition as final and binding in all respects. This does not affect your statutory rights.
  • e. "Competition Materials" means the Submissions (as defined in Paragraph 7 hereof) and other materials generated by a Participant as part of their involvement in the Competition.
  • f. The Promoter may pass on any Competition Materials submitted by you via the Competition Website to any partners company and other third parties directly involved in the operation, evaluation or judging of the Competition.
  • g. All Competition Materials must be in the English language.
  • h. The Competition is not a formal part of the Huawei recruitment process and participation in the Competition will not influence any subsequent application made by a Participant for a job, apprenticeship, internship or other training scheme with the Promoter or any of its affiliates. As the Competition is part of the Promoter’s general recruitment activities, participants in the Competition will automatically be entered into a database to be contacted in respect of the Promoter’s other recruitment activities.
  • i. An "Individual Participant" means a person who enters the Competition as a sole individual whereas a "Team Participant" means a person who enters the Competition as part of a team. Individual Participants and Team Participants are together referred to as "Participants".
  • 2.Eligibility
  • a. Subject to Paragraphs 3(b) and 3(c) below and the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions, participation in the Competition is open to any person who (i) is, or will be, 18 years old, by the 20/03/2017 and not passing the age of 25 years old by 31/12/2017; and (ii) is currently studying at one of the universities in Europe (and is officially registered to continue studying until at least 01/12/2022) (an "Eligible Student").
  • b. Promoter’s family members are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
  • c. Current apprentices, trainees, or interns, of the Promoter and its affiliates or partners are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
  • d. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Students who are in the process of being recruited for a job, apprenticeship, traineeship, or internship by the Promoter or any of its affiliates or partners will be automatically disqualified if their employment, apprenticeship, traineeship or internship commences any time during the Competition Period.
  • 3.Registration
  • a. Eligible Students wishing to participate in the Competition must each register online on the Competition Website and create an account with basic personal information regardless of whether they wish to enter the Competition as an Individual Participant or as a Team Participant.
  • b. An Eligible Student may only register for entry into the Competition once. An Eligible Student may only participate in the Competition either as an Individual Participant or as a Team Participant but not as both.
  • c. The Registration Period for participating in the Competition is from 20 March 2017 – 31 July 2017 inclusive. Internet access is required.
  • d. All Participants must provide a valid e-mail address as part of the registration process. Participants are responsible for updating their e-mail address if it changes during the Competition Period.
  • e. The Promoter reserves the right to check the validity of the registration information submitted by a Participant at any stage during the Competition and to ask for evidence of student status from the university or equivalent establishment cited by the Participant.
  • f. The Promoter also reserves the right to refuse participation, or to disqualify, at any time during the Competition, Participants who have submitted incorrect or misleading information.  Participants who do not comply with these Terms and Conditions may also be disqualified from the Competition without further notice.
  • g. Participants will have no recourse against disqualification decisions.
  • h. Any Participant not correctly registered by the given deadline will not be able to participate further in the Competition.
  • i. For the avoidance of doubt, all times mentioned in the Competition materials are based on Central European Time (CET/GMT+1) from the period 20 March 2017 to 26 March 2017 and Central European Summer Time (CEST/GMT+2) from the period 27 March 2017 to 15 September 2017.
  • 4.Teams
  • a. Following registration, an Individual Participant can invite other Eligible Students to form a team (a "Team"). The maximum number of persons in a Team is two (2). Teams can only be formed via the Competition Website following individual registration by an Eligible Student. Eligible Students cannot participate in more than one Team.  A Participant should only invite another Eligible Student to form a team with them after first having obtained the other Eligible Student’s consent to do so and to use their email address for such purpose.
  • b. Changes to the composition of a Team can be made at any time up to and including 31 July 2017 via the Competition Website.
  • c. Each Team must appoint a main contact person (the "Team Captain"). Emails sent by the Promoter to the email address provided by the Team Captain will be considered delivered to each Team Participant.
  • 5.The Competition Calendar
  • a. There are 2 steps in the Competition: Registration and Materials Submission. The Competition will end on 28 October 2017 at the Huawei Eco-Connect Europe 2017 event (the "Final Event"). The calendar below sets out the key timings and deadlines for each stage of the Competition. NB: All date, time and schedule are subject to change.
  • Registration 20 March 2017 – 31 July 2017
    (inclusive)
    Competition Website opens and Eligible Students can register to participate in the Competition.
    Materials Submission 20 March 2017 – 15 September 2017
    (inclusive)
    Eligible Students can submit the Competition Materials.
    Submissions Assessment 16 September 2017 – 29 September 2017 Assessment Team assess the submissions and choose 10 finalists.
    Announcement of 10 Finalists 30 September 2017 Finalists are announced to proceed to the Final Event.
    Confirmation of attendance in the Final Event. 5 October 2017 Finalists must confirm their attendance in the Final Event at the latest on this date.
    Finalists prepare Final Pitch 30 September 2017 – 24 October 2017 Finalists preparing a max 10 minutes Final Pitch for the Final Event.
    Finalist submit Final Pitch and General Repetition 25 October 2017 Finalists arrive in Berlin, hand-in the Final Pitch, receive the briefing for Final Event and do General Repetition (technical check on the stage).
    Final Event – Final Pitch 26 October 2017 Finalists present their Final Pitch in front of Judges and HCE 2017 attendees, each Finalist have 10 minutes.
    Live Voting for the Favorite Idea 26 October 2017 – 27 October 2017 18:00 CEST HCE 2017 attendees are able to vote for their favorite idea.
    Announcement of the Winners 3+1 28 October 2017 12:00 CEST Winners are announced in the closing of the Final Event, 3 winners chosen by judges according to the criteria, 1 winner of the favorite idea chosen by HCE 2017 attendees. Favorite winner can be the same as one of the winners chosen by the judges.
  • b. The Promoter may send additional information to Participants during the course of any stage. In this case, this information will be sent to all Participants at the same time.
  • 7.Competition Requirements, Submissions, Assessment and Selection of the Winner
  • a. Each Individual Participant/Team will be required to submit the Competition Materials via the Competition Website with the following rules:
    (i)Use English.
    (ii)Use Arial font type size 12.
    (iii)Double space, margin 1' top-bottom-right-left.
    (iv)Max length of 5 pages including the cover page.
    (v)Photo or graphic can be used to explain the ideas in the Competition Materials, the copy right of the use photo of graphic (if any) is responsibility of the Participants.
    (vi)In Word Document or PDF format with maximum capacity of 20MB.
  • b. The ideas should be developed based on the theme of Empowering Digital Life. Participants are encourage to cultivate advanced thinking and to be innovative on how information technology can have a great positive impacts in our future life. Participants can develop ideas in the ecosystem of their choice e.g. education, healthcare, transportation.
  • c. Once the Competition Materials is submitted shall be referred to as "the Submissions".
  • d. Submissions will be assessed by reference to the following criteria which shall be of equal importance:
    (i) Innovation: What is the novelty and innovation aspect of the idea presented?
    (ii) Relevance: How relevant is the idea in terms of ICT/IoT?
    (iii) Value: What is the benefit and value the implementation of the idea can create for society, industry, businesses and individuals?
    (iv) Feasibility: How feasible is it to implement and execute the idea?
  • e. Submissions may not be libelous, offensive, obscene or in violation of intellectual property rights or rights of privacy or publicity and the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify an Individual Participant/Team if a Submission or any part thereof falls under one of these categories.
  • f. Submissions will be assessed by the Assessment Team based on the criteria set out above (d); Assessment Team will remain anonymous to avoid any unwanted contact that interfere the assessment process.
  • g. 10 finalists would be chosen through the submissions assessment.
  • h. In the case of a Team being selected as a Finalist, at least one Team Participant must attend the Final Event on behalf of his/her Team. Similarly, an Individual Participant selected as a Finalist must attend the Final Event. Such Individual Participants/Teams will be required to confirm by 5 October 2017 their availability/the availability of at least one Team Participant to attend the Final Event. In the event that an Individual Participant/Team does not provide such confirmation, the Promoter at its sole discretion may arrange for a replacement Individual Participant/Team to be selected.
  • i. If at any stage in the Competition an Individual Participant/Team is disqualified from the Competition or an Individual Participant/Team cannot be traced or contacted after reasonable efforts have been made by the Promoter, that Individual Participant/Team will forego the right to progress to the next stage of the Competition and the Promoter at its sole discretion may arrange for a replacement Individual Participant/Team to be selected.
  • j. The finalists have to prepare a "Final Pitch" (presentation or video or combination of both about their Submissions) and submit it the Promoter according to the calendar.
  • k. The finalists have to present their Final Pitch in the Final Event, each finalist get 10 minutes to do the presentation on the stage.
  • l. Any such photograph/image/video used in the Submissions and/oror Final Pitch, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the relevant Participant. By using a photograph/image/video in Submissions and/or Final Pitch, a Participant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that any photograph/image/video is an original work created solely by the Participant, that the photograph/image/video does not infringe the intellectual property rights (including, without limitation patents, copyrights, visual materials in whatever form, sound recordings, any copyright protectable work, designs, trade or services marks, database rights, rights in know-how, rights protecting goodwill and reputation, moral rights or other similar rights in any country, in each case whether or not registered, and any applications for registration of any of the foregoing, and all rights to apply to register any of the foregoing) of any third party, or the image rights of any third party , copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the photograph/image/video. If the photograph/image/video contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Participant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, and/or if any persons appear in the photograph/image/video, the Participant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photograph/image/video, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the photograph/image/video in the manner set out in these Terms & Conditions without additional compensation.
  • m. In the Final Event, 3 winners and 1 favorite winner ("Winners").
    (i) The Judges will choose 3 Winners (being either an Individual Participant or a Team) and the decision of the Judges will be based on the criteria set out above (d). The Judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into on that matter.
    (ii) One favorite winner (being either an Individual Participant or a Team) will be chosen through voting by the HCE 2017 attendees at the Final Event; only attendees with a conference passes are eligible to choose, 1 pass for 1 vote.
  • 8.Prizes
  • a. Participants who are chosen as Finalists by 30 September 2017 will each receive a Huawei device and a paid trip to the Final Event in Berlin. The Finalists will be announced in the Competition Website and Promoter’s social media channels. The approximate value of the Finalist’s prize is € 600 per person. Actual value may vary depending on the airfare fluctuations, and the distance between departure and destination. Finalists will not receive any difference between actual and approximate retail value.
  • b. The Promoter will be in contact with the Finalists to organize and pay for all reasonable minimum 3 nights – maximum 4 nights accommodation and economy-class travel expenses in the Final Event.
  • c. The Winners who are chosen during Final Event and announced on the 28 October 2017 will each receive a Huawei device and paid trip to China to discover and introduced to the Chinese culture and historical landmarks as well as visiting Promoter’s premises in China. The Winners will be announced in the Competition Website and Promoter’s social media channels. Winners may be required to confirm they are physically prepared and have no existing health conditions that would limit their mobility. The approximate value of the Winner’s prize is € 3,000 per person. Actual value may vary depending on the airfare fluctuations, and the distance between departure and destination. Winners will not receive any difference between actual and approximate retail value.
  • d. The Promoter will be in contact with the Winners to organize and pay for the China trip (approx. 2 weeks trip).
  • e. Promoter and its affiliates or partners reserve the right to award additional prizes during or at the end of the Competition.
  • f. Prizes cannot be redeemed as cash, are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except at the Promoter’s sole discretion. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason.
  • 9.Correspondence
  • a. All correspondence throughout the Competition must be in the English language.
  • b. The Competition Website will aim to cover many of the questions that Participants and other interested parties may have. Any additional questions or comments concerning the Competition should be sent via email to CCIC@huawei.com.
  • c. The Promoter makes no guarantee of an answer or a time in which an answer may be given. The Promoter reserves the right not to answer a question if, in the Promoter’s opinion, an answer would give an unfair advantage to certain Participants.
  • d. Participants who have received unofficial or content sensitive information relating to the Competition with the intent of allowing an unfair competitive advantage, from employees, interns, apprentices and trainees or any party involved with the Competition must immediately inform the Promoter by email to CCIC@huawei.com.
  • 10.Intellectual Property
  • a. Participants agree that their Competition Materials will be treated as having been submitted on a non-confidential basis whether or not such Competition Materials are marked or referred to by the Participant as being confidential.
  • b. Neither the Promoter nor its affiliates will have a duty to treat the Competition Materials as confidential.
  • c. The Promoter or its affiliates may pass on any Competition Materials to their venture capital and other commercial partners on a non-confidential basis.
  • d. Participants agree to provide the Promoter and its affiliates a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license (with the right to grant sub-licenses) to reproduce, use, copy, modify, distribute and/or reference the whole or any part of any Competition Materials (including, for the avoidance of doubt, the Submissions) for any purpose whatsoever and in any media, whether or not currently invented.
  • e. Participants warrant that they have the necessary rights to grant the license contemplated in these Terms and Conditions.
  • f. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall be construed as the Promoter granting any Participant any license under the Promoter’s and/or any of its affiliate’s intellectual property rights (including, without limitation, the Promoter’s/any of its affiliate’s trademarks, trade names, and copyright in any images, publications and/or other materials produced by, or on behalf of, the Promoter/any of its affiliates and distributed to Participants in connection with the Competition), which may only be used by Participants with the Promoter’s prior written consent.
  • g. Participants acknowledge and agree that:
    (i) the Promoter, its affiliates and/or persons authorized by the Promoter/its affiliates may film, photograph and/or make other forms of recording of Participants whilst Participants are present at and/or participating in events organized for or in connection with the Competition ("Recording");
    (ii) as between the Promoter and Participants, the copyright and any and all other intellectual property rights, title and interest in the Recording shall vest in the Promoter and/or its affiliates who shall be entitled to deal with all or any part of the Recording in such ways as the Promoter and/or its affiliates, in their absolute discretion, see fit;
    (iii) and the Promoter shall have no obligation to acknowledge Participants in any finished material in which all or any part of the Recording is included.
  • h. Participants agree to allow the Promoter and/or its affiliates to (without any remuneration) use, represent, and reproduce their name, image, biography and words for any purpose in connection with the promotion of the Competition and/or the Promoter and/or its affiliates (including, without limitation, in conjunction with any Submission, Competition Materials and/or Recording) by all means, in any kind of medium and format and in any territory.
  • i. By submitting an entry to the Competition, the Participant warrants that the content of the entry is entirely of that Participant’s own creation and does not in any way infringe the intellectual property rights (including, without limitation patents, copyrights, visual materials in whatever form, sound recordings, any copyright protectable work, designs, trade or services marks, database rights, rights in know-how, rights protecting goodwill and reputation, moral rights or other similar rights in any country, in each case whether or not registered, and any applications for registration of any of the foregoing, and all rights to apply to register any of the foregoing) of any other person. If it is discovered that any entry is not the original creation of the appropriate Participant and/or breaches and other person’s intellectual property rights, the Promoter shall be entitled to disqualify that entry and the appropriate Participants from the Competition.
  • 11.Privacy
  • a. The Promoter collects the personal data of Participants as stated on the online registration form on the Competition Website for the purposes of organizing the management of the Competition (including arranging receipt of and/or participating in the prizes) and communicating with Participants in relation to the Competition and any related recruitment activities. Personal data provided by Participants will only be used in accordance with the Privacy Policy as stated on the Competition Website. By providing personal data to the Promoter, Participants are consenting to its use in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
  • b. Participants may be requested to take part in promotional activity relating to their involvement in the Competition and the Promoter reserves the right to use the name(s) of Participants, their photographs and audio/visual recordings of them in any publicity. Participants may also be required to take part in further reasonable promotional activities arranged by the Promoter.
  • c. The Promoter will not keep personal data relating to Participants for longer than is necessary. Data relating to Participants will be retained by the Promoter for a reasonable period after the Competition closes to assist the Promoter in operating competitions in a consistent manner and to deal with any queries relating to the Competition.
  • 12.Claim and Dispute
  • a. Any Participant or Team suspected by the Promoter of plagiarism may be investigated, and, if deemed appropriate by the Promoter (in its absolute discretion), disqualified from the Competition.
  • b. Participants should notify the Promoter of any disputes regarding the Competition within one (1) calendar month of the end of the Competition by email to CCIC@huawei.com with the word 'Dispute' included the subject header.
  • c. The Promoter's decision and discretion on any dispute shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into on that matter.
  • d. Save for the agreement between the Promoter and each Participant for the provision of the Competition as set out herein, participation in the Competition shall in no event be considered or construed as giving rise to any contractual relations with the Promoter or any of its affiliates and, in particular, shall not give rise to any employment relationship.
  • 13.General
  • a. The Promoter assumes no responsibility or liability for any loss arising out of or from: (i) technical issues, system or software failures experienced by a Participant in submitting their registration/Submission or accessing the Competition Website; (ii) user errors; (iii) negligent use of the Competition Website; or (iv) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete or unintelligible registrations/Submissions. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
  • b. The Promoter tries to ensure the standard of the Competition Website remains high but cannot be held responsible for interruptions of service. The Promoter reserves the right to suspend temporarily the operation of the Competition Website without notice in the case of system failure, maintenance or repair or for any other reason beyond its control.
  • c. The Promoter makes no promises or warranties (either express or implied) that use of the application will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for any particular purpose.
  • d. By accepting a prize, a Winner agrees to release and hold the Promoter and its affiliates harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of the award of, the use or misuse of any prize. Where the law implies warranties, which cannot be excluded, the Promoter’s liability for breach of those warranties is limited to resupplying the prize (or paying for the costs thereof), where this is permitted by law. A Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused by participation in this Competition or use or redemption of any prize.
  • e. The Promoter shall not be liable to Participants under or in connection with the Competition for any indirect, economic or consequential loss or for any loss of profits, loss of business, loss of contracts, loss of use or loss of reputation.
  • f. The Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition in whole or in part at any time.
  • g. The Promoter may at its sole discretion disqualify an Individual Participant or a Team from participating further in the Competition if the Individual Participant/Team shows a disregard for these Terms & Conditions or acts in any unsporting or disruptive manner.
  • h. The Promoter reserves the right to monitor any information/materials posted on or submitted through the Competition Website by a Participant. The Promoter, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, may at any time review, remove or otherwise block any information/materials posted on or submitted through the Competition Website.
  • i. The Competition Website offers Participants the opportunity to join in or read from a forum and Participants acknowledge that any communications posted on such forum represent the views of the individual who posted such communication and are not to be taken as the views of the Promoter. The Promoter accepts no responsibility or liability for anything posted on the forum by any user of the forum and Participants must not use the forum to post, upload, or otherwise transmit information or pictures that are defamatory, offensive, obscene, a breach of privacy or otherwise unlawful.
  • j. The Promoter reserves the right to, upon notice to Participants, unilaterally amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
  • k. If the Participant has submitted the same, or a broadly similar, idea in any other competition, details of the competitions in which that idea has been used must be provided to the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry which is composed of substantially the same idea or concept as has been submitted by the relevant Participant in any other competition.
  • l. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is declared by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions contained in these Terms and Conditions will be not affected or impaired in any way.
  • m. These Terms and Conditions shall be interpreted in accordance with and governed by the laws of German and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the German courts.
  • Important notes for acknowledgement by any Competition / Contest entrants:
  • Any ideas or other material submitted by you will be treated as having been submitted on a NON-CONFIDENTIAL basis whether or not such ideas or other material are marked or referred to by you as confidential. The Promoter will not have a duty to treat such ideas or other material as confidential.
  • The Promoter may pass on any ideas or other material submitted by you to our venture capital and other partners. Again this will be on a NON-CONFIDENTIAL basis.
  • All information or advice provided as part of the Competition website is intended to be general in nature. The Promoter is not liable for any action you may take as a result of relying on such information or advice or for any loss or damage suffered by you as a result of you taking this action.
  • You hereby grant the Promoter and its affiliates a worldwide, royalty-free license to use their Submissions for any purpose and in any media, whether or not currently invented, in perpetuity.

    How does CCIC work?

    There are pre-stage and 2 stages in CCIC:
    Pre-stage: Registration, participants are required to register in the competition website http://www.huaweiconnecteurope.com/ccic/ccic.jsp
    Stage 1: Materials Submissions, participants submit the ideas proposal.
    Stage 2: Final Pitch, ten finalists will be selected to present their Final Pitch in front of the Judges in the Final Event, Huawei Eco-Connect Europe 2017, in Berlin.

    Who can participate?

    Participation in the Competition is open to any person who (i) is, or will be, 18 years old, by the 20/03/2017 and not passing the age of 25 years old by 31/12/2017; and (ii) is currently studying at one of the universities in Europe (and is officially registered to continue studying until at least 01/12/2022) (an "Eligible Student").

    How can I enter the Competition?

    Register and set up your personal profile
    at http://www.huaweiconnecteurope.com/ccic/ccic.jsp. If you wish, invite other students to form a team, or participate as an individual. Teams nominate a team captain who can submit an idea on behalf of the team.

    Yes. Participants can participate as an individual.

    What is the maximum team size?

    The maximum number of students per team is 2.

    Can I be a member of more than one team?

    No. Participants must be a member of one team only.

    Do team members have to attend the same University?

    No. Team members can be from different Universities/countries as along as each team member meets the eligibility criteria.

    No. Team members can be from different academic years as along as each team member meets the eligibility criteria.

    Will participants have contact with Huawei organizer staff during the competition?

    Organizer will be in contact with the Finalists to arrange the trip to Berlin, also with the Winners to arrange the winning trip to China.

    What are the prizes?

    ·The Finalists will get Huawei Device and Paid Trip to Berlin to attend the Final Event, 2017 Huawei Eco-Connect Europe.
    10 finalist will be selected to present their ideas in front of the top corporates.
    ·The Winners will get Huawei Device and Paid Trip to China to discover and introduced to the Chinese culture and historical landmarks as well as visiting Huawei’s premises in China.
    3 winners would be chosen by the judges (Huawei and partners) and 1 favorite by voting during Final Event.

    Will participants get a job at Huawei?

    CCIC is not part of Huawei’s recruitment process and performance in the competition will not influence job applications.

    Are there any stipulations on language?

    Competition documents and products provided (proposals, submissions, videos and presentations) are all required to be in English.

    What is the theme of CCIC?

    The theme of CCIC is "Empowering Digital Life". All teams are encourage to cultivate advanced thinking and to be innovative on how information technology can have a great positive impacts in our future life.

    What are the key dates and deadlines for CCIC?

    Registration 20 March 2017 – 31 July 2017

    Competition Website opens and Eligible Students can register to participate in the Competition.
    Materials Submission 20 March 2017 – 15 September 2017
    (inclusive)
    Eligible Students can submit the Competition Materials.
    Submissions Assessment 16 September 2017 – 29 September 2017 Assessment Team assess the submissions and choose 10 finalists.
    Announcement of 10 Finalists 30 September 2017 Finalists are announced to proceed to the Final Event.
    Confirmation of attendance in the Final Event. 5 October 2017 Finalists must confirm their attendance in the Final Event at the latest on this date.
    Finalists prepare Final Pitch 30 September 2017 – 24 October 2017 Finalists preparing a max 10 minutes Final Pitch for the Final Event.
    Finalist submit Final Pitch and General Repetition 25 October 2017 Finalists arrive in Berlin, hand-in the Final Pitch, receive the briefing for Final Event and do General Repetition (technical check on the stage).
    Final Event – Final Pitch 26 October 2017 Finalists present their Final Pitch in front of Judges and HCE 2017 attendees, each Finalist have 10 minutes.
    Live Voting for the Favorite Idea 26 October 2017 – 27 October 2017 18:00 CEST HCE 2017 attendees are able to vote for their favorite idea.
    Announcement of the Winners 3+1 28 October 2017 12:00 CEST Winners are announced in the closing of the Final Event, 3 winners chosen by judges according to the criteria, 1 winner of the favorite idea chosen by HCE 2017 attendees. Favorite winner can be the same as one of the winners chosen by the judges.

    When will teams from Stage 1 and Stage 2 be notified?

    Finalists will be notified on 30 September 2017 and the Winners would be announced on the last day of the Final Event which is on 29 October 2017.

    Late entries

    Late submissions will not be accepted after the closing time based on Central European Time (CET/GMT+1) from the period 20 March 2017 to 26 March 2017 and Central European Summer Time (CEST/GMT+2) from the period 27 March 2017 to 15 September 2017.

    How are ideas evaluated?

    On both Stage 1 and 2 the main selection criteria are as following:
    a.Novel: How novel or original is the idea?
    b.Relevance: How relevant is the idea to the Empowering Digital Life theme?
    c.Doable: How easy is it to achieve the idea?
    d.Value: What benefits (business/social/etc.) would the idea deliver? What is the potential value of this idea?
    On Stage 2, the detailed in the idea in the Final Pitch and presentation skills of the Finalists would have some impacts in the winners’ selection too.

    Who are the judges?

    Judges comprise of senior executives and experts from Huawei and partners/affiliates.
  • 22

    What happens if a team cannot attend the Final Event?

    In the case of a Team selected as a Finalist, at least one Team Participant must attend the Final Event on behalf of his/her Team. Such Teams will be required to confirm by 5 October 2017 the availability of at least one Team Participant to attend the Final Event. In the event that a Team does not provide such confirmation, the Promoter at its sole discretion may arrange for a replacement Team to be selected.

    What photos can I upload to support my idea?

    Participants must only use photography which they have originated or third party photography for which they have consent. For further information please refer to competition Terms and Conditions.

    Who owns the intellectual property of the idea?

    The participants own the Intellectual Property (IP) of their idea. By participating in CCIC, Huawei is granted global licensing rights to market, promote and communicate the ideas. For further information please refer to competition Terms and Conditions.
